If one gets to spend only 48 hours in Lisbon, then one should probably want to make most of it. I’d urge one to walk around the town as much as possible, Bairro Alto and the old town are amazing for long walks. I totally fell in love with tiles, which you can see everywhere – on the walls, on the streets, covering baths.. just name it! And those endless tram lines. I also spent hours sitting in cafes and visiting little grocery stores buying fresh fruit, because everything just tastes so good. When you are visiting Portugal – sardines and Pasteis de Nata (small pastries) are a must! And top of that – the food is so cheap here! We decided to spend the second part of this 48-hour trip in Sintra, which is only 25 km away from the capital. This small town is popular for it’s 19th century Romantic architectural buildings and is an ideal place for day tours. We weren’t very lucky with the weather as it was raining cats and dogs. In pursuit of a resting place, we bumped into a group of Argentinians who added a bit of Latin flavour to our trip by introducing us to Mate tea.
